I recently attended a very interesting social media marketing workshop presented by Tusk Agency hosted by Hynes Lawyers.

The most interesting social media marketing tip was to ensure your social media strategy is part of your overall marketing strategy for your business. Don’t let your kids run yor business facebook page just because they “know the we stuff”! Social media is a very important aspect of your business marketing and as such it needs to be done properly as part of your overall strategy.

Apart from the interesting social media marketing tips and tools gained from the session the most important takeaway I received was regarding IP or Intellectual Property.

Social media and all the tools and tricks that it brings are an even more important reason to ensure your IP protection has been done properly. Ensure you talk to a reputable law firm for detailed advice, even if you have a registered trademark. The “new world” of social media is adding a level of complexity to IP protection.
